Connecticut State Police promoted three troopers during a ceremony Friday at the State Police Training Academy in Meriden.

David Montini, John S. Eckersley and Michael Davis were each promoted during the ceremony.

Montini was promoted from lieutenant and will now serve as commanding officer in the Office of Field Operations. In his most recent assignment, he served as Chief of Staff to the lieutenant colonel.

State police said Montini has been a trooper for more than 20 years. He has received seven unit citation awards and the Trooper First Class Allan J. Tuskowski Award for excellence in training.

Montini has served as commanding officer of Troop A in Southbury and was a part of the Statewide Narcotics Task Force. He was also a detective with the Western District Major Crime Squad, served at Troop G in Bridgeport and on the Fugitive Task Force and Extradition Unit.

He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut. Before becoming a state trooper, he worked as a police officer in Meriden.
