Since May 2018, she has been investigating the pharmacokinetics of Da-Huang-Xiao-Shi Decoction in mice, focusing on understanding the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of this traditional Chinese medicinal formulation. Her work aims to elucidate the pharmacological basis of its therapeutic effects and optimize its clinical use. From May 2017 to April 2018, Mrs. Jin studied the transport mechanisms of venlafaxine and its main metabolite, O-desmethylvenlafaxine, in hCMEC/D3 cells. This research was pivotal in understanding how these compounds cross the blood-brain barrier, providing insights into their efficacy and safety as antidepressants. Prior to this, she examined the involvement of P-glycoprotein and multidrug and toxin extrusion protein 1 in the hepatic and renal efflux of berberine in mice from September 2015 to April 2017. This study highlighted the roles of these transport proteins in drug-drug interactions and their impact on berberine’s bioavailability and therapeutic effectiveness. Mrs. Jin’s early research, conducted from December 2014 to August 2015, focused on the absorption interaction between berberine and metformin in vitro. This study explored the synergistic effects of these two compounds, commonly used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, and provided a foundation for optimizing combination therapies.
