Free University of Bozen Bolzano | Italy
Assist. Prof. Dr. Lorenzo Maccioni is an Assistant Professor at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (UNIBZ), where he conducts research within the European FSE+ project saveLUBe, focusing on sustainable and efficient lubrication of mechanical systems. His research centers on the evaluation, design, and monitoring of lubricated components such as bearings and gearboxes for power transmission applications, with strong links to regional and industrial needs. As a key member of the Machine Design group led by Professor Franco Concli, he contributes to industrial research projects spanning automotive and wind turbine bearings, electric mobility, and high power-density gearboxes for heavy industry and aerospace applications. His academic activities include teaching machine design and advanced manufacturing methodologies, supervising undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral research, and contributing to research proposal development and international scientific dissemination.
