Dr. Rushikesh Joshi is a distinguished biochemist with extensive academic and research experience. He completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 2016, following his M.Sc. in Biochemistry from Saurashtra University and his B.Sc. in Biochemistry from Sardar Patel University. Dr. Joshi is currently involved in two key research projects: one on the structural and functional characterizations of key enzymes in the sennoside biosynthetic pathway in Senna, funded by SERB-TARE, and another on the repurposing of chitinous waste for sustainable agriculture, funded by GUJCOST.

Dr. Rushikesh Joshi holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in Vadodara, Gujarat, India, where he studied from 2009 to 2016. He earned his Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Biochemistry from Saurashtra University in Rajkot, Gujarat, India, completing the program between 2007 and 2009. Prior to that, Dr. Joshi obtained his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Biochemistry from Sardar Patel University in Vallabhvidhyanagar, India, which he attended from 2004 to 2007.

Research:

Dr. Rushikesh Joshi is currently engaged in two significant research projects. The first project, titled “Structural and Functional Characterizations of Key Enzymes Involved in Sennoside Biosynthetic Pathway in Senna (Cassia angustifolia Vahl.),” is funded by SERB-TARE and is ongoing. The second project, “Repurposing of Chitinous Waste and Application Towards Sustainable Agriculture Technology,” is funded by GUJCOST and is also ongoing.

Awards:

Dr. Rushikesh Joshi has received several awards and fellowships throughout his academic and research career. He was honored with international travel awards from DST-SERB, DBT, and CICS to attend the 29th Annual Symposium of the Protein Society in Barcelona, Spain, in 2015. He was awarded a Senior Research Fellowship from August 2013 to January 2016 by the Center for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India, for a project titled ā€œStudies on the Effects of Mutations in Parallel Ī²-Bulge of Ubiquitin on Protein Translation, Sorting, and Lysosomal Degradation.ā€ Prior to this, Dr. Joshi held a Junior Research Fellowship from July 2009 to December 2011, funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, for his project ā€œStructural Studies on the Degradation Determinant Signals of Ornithine Decarboxylase and Redesigning of Ornithine Decarboxylase for Efficient Targeted Protein Degradation.ā€ In 2011, Dr. Joshi received a travel award for his poster presentation on ā€œStructural Studies on Degradation Determinant Signals of ODCā€ at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay. He won second prize for an oral presentation on ā€œFluorescence Studies on Degradation Determinant Signals of ODCā€ at I2IT, Pune, in 2010. Additionally, he was awarded the Young Scientist Award for his work on ā€œOxidative Stress Induced by Methylmercury and Its Amelioration with Curcumin, Vitamin B Complex, Glutathione, and Their Combinationā€ at Saurashtra University, Rajkot, in 2009.
