Assist. Prof. Dr. Joana Costa is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto. She holds a PhD in Public Policy with a focus on Innovation Policy from the University of Aveiro, an MPhil in Economics from the Faculty of Economics, University of Porto, a postgraduate qualification in Industrial Management from ISEP – School of Engineering, and a degree in Economics from the University of Minho. She completed a postdoctoral project on innovation persistence and national innovation contexts, with particular emphasis on open innovation. She teaches econometrics, applied econometrics, economics of innovation, entrepreneurship and innovation, and investment appraisal at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. Dr. Anam Azam is an accomplished researcher and academic specializing in energy and environmental economics, currently serving as a Postdoctoral Fellow under the International Climate Protection (ICP) Fellowship Program at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI in Karlsruhe, Germany. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the School of Economics and Management at North China Electric Power University, China, where her doctoral dissertation explored the complex nexus between energy, growth, environment, and development in emerging economies. Her academic journey reflects a strong interdisciplinary foundation, with advanced degrees in International Economics and Trade, Sociology, Education, and Economics, obtained from leading universities in China and Pakistan. Prior to her current fellowship, Dr. Azam held research and academic positions at renowned institutions, including the Research Center in Agri-Food Economy and Development (CREDA) in Barcelona and the University of Lahore, where she served as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences. Her research interests span a broad spectrum of critical global issues, including energy economics, carbon neutrality, climate change adaptation, sustainable development, and circular economy models. She is also engaged in advancing methodologies in life-cycle energy assessment (LCA), sustainable urban infrastructure, green buildings, and transport policy, integrating modern tools such as machine learning and environmental policy impact assessment. Dr. Azam’s work contributes to developing innovative frameworks for achieving low-carbon transitions and sustainable economic growth, particularly within developing countries. As a Humboldt Fellow, she continues to collaborate on international research projects aimed at addressing climate and sustainability challenges, reflecting her strong commitment to bridging scientific research with practical policy applications that promote environmental resilience and socio-economic sustainability.

Nimra has contributed to the field through both teaching and consultancy; she served as a Lecturer in Economics at the Institute of Southern Punjab and Nishat Higher Secondary School, where she taught courses including Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Development Economics, while also mentoring students and developing curriculum materials.
