Dr. Karina Ferreira Chueng is a Brazilian geoscientist specializing in paleoenvironmental and paleoclimatic reconstruction, with a strong focus on the use of silica biomineralizations, phytoliths, and carbon isotopes to study Quaternary environmental changes. She earned her Doctorate and Master’s degree in Earth and Ocean Sciences from the Federal Fluminense University and her Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the State University of Rio de Janeiro. Rita holds a Master’s Degree in Medical Physics from the University of Porto’s Faculty of Sciences, where she achieved an average course grade. Her dissertation, “Personalized Voxel-Based Dosimetry in Ho-166 Hepatic Radioembolization: A Dose Uncertainty Study,” was conducted at Hospital de Santo António under Professor Dr. João Santos’ supervision and received a final grade. She also completed a Degree in Physics from the same university with a final course grade.

Experience

Rita has worked as a Medical Physicist at Porto São João University Hospital Center since September. Prior to this, she completed an internship in the Nuclear Medicine Department at Hospital de Santo António, where she gained practical experience with software tools like HERMES and Q-Suite. She also participated in dosimetric studies of holmium-166 and lutetium-177 therapeutic treatments. Rita has been tutoring physics and mathematics at Espaço D study center.
