Dr. Gourav Suman pursued a comprehensive academic journey in the field of Electrical Engineering, culminating in a Ph.D. from the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology, Arunachal Pradesh, completed between 2017 and 2022. His doctoral research focused on Microgrids, under the guidance of Prof. O. P. Roy. Prior to his Ph.D., Dr. Suman earned his M.Tech. in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Power System Engineering, from the same institute, achieving a commendable grade of 8.1 out of 10, from 2015 to 2017. He commenced his academic pursuit with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Sengunthar Engineering College (Under Anna University, Chennai), achieving a notable grade of 8.5 out of 10, spanning from 2011 to 2014. During this period, he gained exposure to the core principles of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, which further enriched his academic foundation. Dr. Suman’s educational journey began with a Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from P.A.C.R. Polytechnic College (Under DOTE, Chennai) between 2008 and 2011, where he excelled with a remarkable score of 97.03%. This period provided him with a strong grounding in the basics of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, supplemented by a project in the third year. From 2022 to 2023, Dr. Gourav Suman served as an Assistant Professor at MITS, Andhra Pradesh. In this role, he contributed significantly to the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), as well as some courses in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and CSE – IoT. His responsibilities included overseeing various courses within these departments and actively engaging in the academic development of students. Dr. Suman also took on the role of Coordinator for Integrated Management System (IMS), where he was responsible for maintaining the timetable, attendance records, and managing backlogs for both students and faculty members. Additionally, he served as the Coordinator for the mentoring process within the department, ensuring effective guidance and support for students. Furthermore, Dr. Suman played a key role in handling and managing the criteria files required as per the recommendations of the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). His dedication to maintaining high standards in education and his ability to effectively manage various aspects of academic administration were evident throughout his tenure at MITS, Andhra Pradesh.

From 2017 to 2021, Dr. Gourav Suman conducted groundbreaking research as a Ph.D. researcher at NERIST, A.P. He developed an innovative method using a hybrid optimization algorithm (Particle Swarm Optimization – Grey Wolf Optimizer) to select renewable energy resources based on location and load characteristics. His work also included creating a load frequency controller for a cluster of microgrids, treating them as a multi-objective optimization problem for frequency deviation and controller output signals. Furthermore, he enhanced the robust stability performance of interconnected microgrids by implementing H2/Hโ controllers. Dr. Suman also proposed a novel optimization scheme, the Lรฉvy Flights-based Teaching Learning Based Optimization algorithm, for detecting Islanding in Microgrids using a multi-level Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Interface System (ANFIS). Additionally, he analyzed the performance of available software tools for microgrid development at specific locations based on renewable resource availability. During his M.Tech. studies from 2016 to 2017 at NERIST, A.P., Dr. Suman developed a microprocessor-based reactive power monitoring unit. He enhanced the monitored power using a capacitor bank, calculating capacitance values based on load characteristics. He also studied various methods for analyzing system reliability, including fault tree analysis, Markov modeling, set-analysis, and cut-set analysis, to evaluate system failure rates under varied repair and failure rates. As a B.E. student at SEC, Tiruchengode, from 2013 to 2014, Dr. Suman developed a classroom board automation system using microcontroller systems. The model, designed using an Arduino board, controlled the two-dimensional motion of an automated blackboard cleaner. The design was validated through a developed hardware setup in Proteus software. Dr. Suman’s research and project experiences demonstrate his deep commitment to advancing the field of Electrical Engineering through innovative solutions and thorough analysis.
