Prior to this, he worked as a Research Scientist at TCG Life Sciences (Chembiotek), Salt Lake Sector V, Kolkata, India, from January 2021 to June 2021. From February 2020 to January 2021, Nandan was an Assistant Professor at the School of Pharmaceutical Technology, Adamas University, Barasat, Kolkata, India. His experience also includes serving as a Research Associate at the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, Punjab, India, from May 2019 to February 2020, where he was involved in evaluating coumarin analogues/derivatives for potential biological activity. Earlier in his career, Nandan worked as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at the Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Noida, in a DBT Funded project from April 2014 to May 2017. From July 2015 to December 2020, Nandan Sarkar pursued his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences under the supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Sabari Ghosal at the Centre of Plant and Environmental Biotechnology, AIB, AUUP, Noida, India, and Dr. Debaraj Mukherjee, Sr. Scientist & HOD, NPC-microbes Division, NPC-Plant, BOC, Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Canal Road, Jammu, India. His thesis, titled ‘Bioactive compounds from medicinal plants and their semi-synthetic derivatives,’ focused on the extraction, fractionation, isolation, and characterization of bioactive compounds from medicinal orchids of Arunachal Pradesh and high-altitude plants from Ladakh, India. Nandan employed bioassay-guided fractionation and evaluation to study the compounds’ antimycobacterial, leishmanicidal, bacterial, and cytotoxicity activities. Additionally, he prepared semi-synthetic analogues of the most bioactive compounds to enhance their bio-potential.
