His earlier ISRO-funded studies explored the interaction of electromagnetic waves with high-energy plasma in Uranus and low-frequency plasma waves in Saturn’s magnetosphere, while his DRDO collaboration focused on developing doped barium zirconate titanate ceramics for acoustic emission sensor applications. As Head of the Department, he demonstrated academic leadership and contributed significantly to curriculum development and research enhancement. His primary research interests span instabilities in magneto plasma, ionospheric plasma, planetary atmospheres, semiconductor plasma, and free electron lasers. Dr. Mahmoud Mashal is a distinguished scholar and researcher in Civil Engineering, specializing in Hydraulics, with extensive academic and professional experience spanning several decades. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a focus on Hydraulics from the University of Manchester following his M.Sc. in Irrigation and Drainage Engineering  and B.Sc. in Irrigation Engineering  from Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz. Throughout his career, Dr. Mashal has been dedicated to advancing research and education in hydraulic structures, water resource management, and irrigation systems. His work integrates theoretical insights with practical applications to address complex challenges in water engineering, sustainable irrigation design, and environmental hydraulics. As a faculty member at the University of Tehran’s Aburaihan Campus, he has played a key role in teaching, mentoring graduate students, and conducting interdisciplinary research aimed at improving the efficiency and sustainability of water systems in arid and semi-arid regions. Dr. Anam Azam is an accomplished researcher and academic specializing in energy and environmental economics, currently serving as a Postdoctoral Fellow under the International Climate Protection (ICP) Fellowship Program at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI in Karlsruhe, Germany. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the School of Economics and Management at North China Electric Power University, China, where her doctoral dissertation explored the complex nexus between energy, growth, environment, and development in emerging economies. Her academic journey reflects a strong interdisciplinary foundation, with advanced degrees in International Economics and Trade, Sociology, Education, and Economics, obtained from leading universities in China and Pakistan. Prior to her current fellowship, Dr. Azam held research and academic positions at renowned institutions, including the Research Center in Agri-Food Economy and Development (CREDA) in Barcelona and the University of Lahore, where she served as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences. Her research interests span a broad spectrum of critical global issues, including energy economics, carbon neutrality, climate change adaptation, sustainable development, and circular economy models. She is also engaged in advancing methodologies in life-cycle energy assessment (LCA), sustainable urban infrastructure, green buildings, and transport policy, integrating modern tools such as machine learning and environmental policy impact assessment. Dr. Azam’s work contributes to developing innovative frameworks for achieving low-carbon transitions and sustainable economic growth, particularly within developing countries. As a Humboldt Fellow, she continues to collaborate on international research projects aimed at addressing climate and sustainability challenges, reflecting her strong commitment to bridging scientific research with practical policy applications that promote environmental resilience and socio-economic sustainability.
